Position Summary
Boston Children’s Hospital is dedicated to providing infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with comprehensive nutrition assessments—an essential component of individualized care plans for a wide range of conditions. This per diem Pediatric Registered Dietitian will provide basic nutritional care to patients on assigned inpatient units. The role involves evaluating medical, biochemical, and nutritional information to assess patient needs and develop appropriate nutrition care plans. The dietitian will also assist in supervising the daily work of the dietetic technician.

This per diem position is scheduled on an as-needed basis. Preferred candidates will have availability to work approximately 2–3 shifts per week to support departmental coverage needs.

The role participates in a weekend rotation, typically averaging 6–8 weekends per year, though weekend requirements may vary based on staffing needs and operational demands.

The training period is approximately 3 months, with duration individualized based on learning needs and progression. During training, candidates are ideally available 5 days per week to support timely onboarding and skill development. At minimum, 3 days per week of availability is required during the training period to ensure successful orientation and transition to independent practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic nutritional care to patients on assigned inpatient units.
  • Evaluate medical, biochemical, and nutritional information to assess patient needs.
  • Develop and implement appropriate nutrition care plans.
  • Assist in supervising the daily work of the dietetic technician.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition & Dietetics

Experience:

  • 3+ years of progressive experience in Dietetics with at least 2 years in pediatric nutrition

Certifications/Licensure:

  • Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration, the Credentialing agency of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, as a Registered Dietitian
  • Licensure by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a licensed Dietitian.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
