The Lieberman Lab is looking for a Research Technologist, whose main responsibility is to support the day-to-day functioning of a collaborative and cutting edge research immunology laboratory that studies the innate and adaptive immune response to infection and cancer.
The candidate will be expected to be on-site full time (40 hours per week) during core business hours to support the daily operations of the lab.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily lab operations.
- Order lab and office supplies.
- Keep lab supplies stocked.
- Maintain and service lab equipment to ensure they are in optimal working condition.
- Prepare stock solutions and tissue culture media supplements.
- Maintain a database of lab expenses including supply purchases and facilities and core costs. Provide PI with monthly accounting of spending.
- Maintain databases of lab reagents (chemicals, antibodies, plasmids and frozen cells).
- Perform routine Mycoplasma tests on cell cultures to detect and prevent contamination.
- Oversee animal colony (including breeding and maintenance of knockout lines) and keeping track of animal inventory, cage counts, and animal spending every month.
- Manage lab roster and assign safety & animal trainings.
- Train new employees on lab procedures, safety and methods.
- Coordinate annual lab safety inspection and ensure compliance with lab safety regulations.
- Arrange shipping of transfer materials to and from other labs.
- Submit all published plasmids to Addgene.
- Assist with protein purification, cell culture, genotyping, and cloning when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree
Experience:
- 4 years of relevant work experience OR Master’s and 2 years of relevant work experience
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
