Position Summary
The Family Housing Relief Staff – Weekend/Overnight supports the Patient Family Housing Program by administering operating policies and procedures that ensure a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for families of patients receiving care at Boston Children’s Hospital. This role works collaboratively with the Program Manager and hospital partners to meet the needs of resident families, manage overnight operations, and respond effectively to routine and emergency situations across two housing locations.
Please note: On-site sleeping quarters are provided for employees during your shift, and you will have designated hours to rest.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and implement operating policies and procedures for the Patient Family Housing Program.
- Review and manage reservation requests and confirmations, ensuring timely communication with families.
- Provide volunteer support and coordinate housekeeping, supply, and facility-related requests.
- Collaborate with hospital departments to support security, transportation, and operational needs.
- Ensure guest compliance with house rules, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Maintain awareness of patients’ medical status and evolving family needs that may impact housing arrangements.
- Foster positive interactions among resident families and respond to feedback, concerns, and requests.
- Assist with family support services as directed by the Program Manager.
- Respond to crisis situations, including medical and stressful emergencies, in accordance with hospital and City of Boston policies.
- Serve as part of a 24/7 team supporting two housing properties, providing coverage and assistance as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Two years of applicable education or training in human services, hospitality, or a related field required
Experience:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a related role required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate empathy and professionalism in sensitive situations
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when working with patients, families, and staff
Schedule: per diem. Shifts needed are:
– Weekend evenings + overnights and holidays
– weekend shifts are: Sat 4:30pm-Sunday 5pm
– Week day evenings

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
