Position Summary
Use state-of-the-art CFD software (Fluent, SimVascular, etc.) to simulate and analyze flow through patient-specific models of cardiovascular anatomy. Design and conduct benchtop experiments to complement and/or validate computational modeling studies. Work with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient data necessary for quantitative modeling. Collaborate with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols. Perform statistical analysis of experimental results. Prepare oral and written reports for presentation at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design and develop new medical devices and technologies including surgical and catheter devices, 3D modeling and simulation techniques in collaboration with team
  • Design and conduct benchtop experiments to complement and/or refine designs and validate computational modeling studies as part of the development process.
  • Work with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, and nurses to obtain patient information, understand clinical need, refine the design and apply the new technologies.
  • Collaborate with lab staff, clinicians, and statisticians to design experiments and write protocols.
  • Perform statistical analysis of experimental results.
  • Prepare oral and written reports for presentation locally and at technical conferences and for publication in scholarly journals.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Computer Science. is required. A M.S. degree is preferred

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
