Position Summary
A research technician position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Stephanie Roberts in the Division of Endocrinology. The laboratory specializes in the neuroendocrine control of puberty and reproduction. Specifically, we have projects focused on how different genes affect pubertal timing and pubertal disorders, other hormonal conditions such as Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, and models to explore future therapeutic targets for pubertal/reproductive disorders.

This is an outstanding opportunity for individuals considering medical or graduate school.

Key Responsibilities
• The candidate will work collaboratively with other investigators on key projects that will help us to understand the mechanisms of puberty and reproduction. Ideal candidates will be able to work independently and contribute both intellectually and technically.

• The specific experiments and techniques will vary, but typically include performing polymerase chain reaction, immunostaining, hormone assays as well as performing animal husbandry and mouse physiology experiments. Additional experiments may include working with cell culture and/or human subjects.
• The candidate will analyze, interpret and communicate results for lab meetings, conferences and/or manuscripts.
• The candidate will also spend a proportion of their time on lab management, including ordering supplies, organizing and maintaining databases, and coordinating meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:

  • • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or a related field.

Experience:

  • • At least one year of research experience outside of coursework (preferred but not required)
  • • Comfortable working with mice (prior experience preferred but not required)
  • • Willingness to make a two-year commitment

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive benefits package that includes flexible schedules, affordable health, vision and dental insurance, child care and student loan subsidies, generous levels of time off, 403(b) Retirement Savings plan, Pension, Tuition and certain License and Certification Reimbursement, cell phone plan discounts and discounted rates on T-passes. Experience the benefits of passion and teamwork.
