Our 22-bed MICU at Boston Children’s Hospital is dedicated to providing exceptional care for patients spanning the age continuum. We manage a wide range of diagnoses, including respiratory failure & complex respiratory disease progression, septic shock, heart failure, diabetic ketoacidosis, metabolic crises, post-lung transplant care, and patients with chronic medical complexity. This position is part of a flexible staffing model. While the primary home department is the MICU, there is an expectation to provide cross-coverage support in the MSICU during periods of operational need. This model is designed to support patient care demands across critical care services while promoting professional growth and skill development across units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing front-line care and coordination for complex, critically ill patients in the MICU, including assessment, diagnosis, pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, bedside procedures, and family-centered care.
- Collaborating and consulting with acute care providers and interdisciplinary team members on all assigned inpatients during daily rounds. Managing assigned patients throughout the course of the day.
- Participating in ongoing research and quality improvement initiatives.
- Facilitating patient/family and multidisciplinary team education.
- Provide clinical coverage in the MSICU as needed, based on unit staffing and patient care needs, in alignment with established orientation and competency expectations.
- Working 40 hours per week, rotating day/night shifts and a maximum of every third weekend
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- A Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or a Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years of Pediatric ICU experience.
- 1-2 years of pediatric acute care NP or PA experience is preferred; new graduates will also be considered with previous ICU experience.
Licensure/ Certifications:
- MA licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse PNP or FNP or Physician Assistant
*This role offers a competitive sign‑on bonus ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, based on your experience. (for people who have not worked at BCH in the past 2 years.)
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
