Supervises provision of clinical services by respiratory care and ECMO staff. Monitors and evaluates patient volume and acuity levels to comply with department quality assurance/improvement standards for patient care. Provides direct patient care and consultation in both respiratory care and ECMO services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervises Respiratory Therapists and ECMO Specialists across a variety of clinical programs and settings.
- Provides evaluation of staffs’ performance. Counsels staff and utilizes disciplinary measures to improve performance.
- Supervises the operations of the Respiratory Care Department and ECMO Program. Maintains and monitors appropriate staffing and equipment levels, and associated resources.
- Provides direct and consultative respiratory care and extracorporeal life support.
- Provides leadership and guidance in the development and evaluation of clinical practice, technical and departmental procedures, and promotes professionalism.
- Participates in quality improvement initiatives and serves as department representative to clinical programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience Required:
4 years of clinical experience as a licensed respiratory therapist with a minimum of three years in a pediatric specialty. Work requires completion of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation training with one to years of clinical experience as an Associate ECMO Specialist.
Education:
Associates Degree and Bachelors Degree in a complementary field is required.
Bachelors Degree and or Masters Degree is preferred.
Respiratory Therapy area of study is required.
Licensure/ Certifications:
Current Massachusetts license as a Respiratory Therapist is required.
**This position is eligible for full-time benefits and a $20,000 sign-on bonus (not eligible for internal candidates and not eligible for former BCH employees who worked here in the past 2 years)**
The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
